The Biggest Sin of All
“Do you admit to them all?”
The official’s voice was cold and professional.
“...I do.”
“The reaper has admitted to all his deeds. You shall now repent your wrongdoings and understand the seriousness of this situation. A severe punishment has come down from the gods.”
“I will gladly take it all.”
“You will realise soon that there is nothing to be glad about. A grim reaper is a being that has sinned in their previous life; they are people that have cowardly chosen to erase all their memories and sins. You shall face your cowardness; you shall face your sins. That is the punishment for breaking the grim reaper’s rules.”
Pain filled the grim reaper’s head, and the memories of his past life were starting to fill his head, getting mixed with the memories he already had. The grim reaper moaned as he grabbed his head, but the physical pain was nothing compared to the memories streaming into his head. Yeo Wang; it was his foolish past. The teacups in the shop started to shake as if they knew how the grim reaper was feeling. The story he had heard from Shin, the vision he had seen from Sunny, and the confusing emotions he had had from the past year all started to come in one piece. Foolishness was a sin, ignorance was evil; the only thing left was pain.
“So I was Yeo… So I killed all of them…”
The last vision he saw crushed his heart all over again. Poison; death was filling his body.
“I killed myself…”
There was no way anyone could place the broken pieces of his heart anymore. Breathing was becoming impossible, and only tiny gasps came out of the grim reaper. His face was covered in tears.
“We have returned you the memory of your sins in your past life; including the biggest sin of all, suicide. We have returned them to you 600 years later after your death. Your job as a reaper will be done by another until further notice.”
Leaving the crying grim reaper at the tea shop, the grim officials turned coldly and disappeared.

The grim reaper stumbled into the Goblin’s room and opened the scroll. The picture he had drawn; the person he had missed until the last moment. The tears had no intention of stopping. An angry figure stormed into the room and snatched the scroll from the grim reaper’s hands.
“Don’t you dare lay your hands on this again. You don’t have the right to cry over this picture.”
“I ordered your death… I killed you… I killed everyone.”
Sadness flowed out of the grim reaper along with his tears. Every word he spoke was gasped with the small remains of air in the grim reaper. The Goblin just glared at the grim reaper coldly; now that the grim reaper had got his memories back, it was hard to say that Yeo and the grim reaper were different people.
“I know you did! You killed me! You killed everyone! After killing all those people, you even killed yourself!”
The Goblin grabbed the grim reaper’s collar in despair.
“You couldn’t save the woman you loved, and you couldn’t save your servant, who was trying to protect you! You gave Goryeo into the hands of that wicked man! You couldn’t even save yourself! You couldn’t save anything! My young sister died to save you! So you should have kept living! You should have kept living and should have died at the blade of my sword! You should have made me a traitor, because that was the stupid excuse you told yourself so you could kill me! You should have proved that I was a traitor with your death.”
Tears kept streaming down the grim reaper’s face.
“When Joong Heon spoke of me with his dirty tongue, my sister knew that Joong Hwon would speak of her next. She knew that Joong Heon would do anything to control you completely. And because she didn’t want to be your weakness, that idiot died as the sister of a traitor. She wanted to save you!”
“I’m begging you… That ring…I put that ring…on her ring so roughly… On that woman’s finger. That ring was the reason me and your sister met in this life… So I’m begging you… Kill me.”
He was still so foolish and weak, he wanted to put all the sadness back into the Pandora box. The Goblin let go of the grim reaper’s collar in disgust.
“Things don’t change do they? Do you want to throw yourself away again? I think the sin of killing you should only be done by you.”
The Goblin left the grim reaper helplessly on the floor of his bedroom. The grim reaper lay on the floor not bothering to pick himself back up. It hurt. Everything hurt. Even the tears that streamed down his face felt as if they were burning his skin. Every second was regret and sadness.
